A Shoebox of Baseball Cards: New York Mets

Today is the day where baseball cards are the perfect distraction from what's going on in the larger world. So, what better way to spend the time than reading this list of New York Mets cards from the shoebox?

The 1987 Topps Kevin Mitchell is among the best of that set. The action at the plate with post-slide dirt filling the air is quite memorable. Lord knows what the Expos catcher Mike Fitzgerald is looking for! His face mask is  by Mitchell's right foot.

Great Mets cards here, even if they are from the mass produced era. The 1988 Topps Dave Cone card has a forged signature on it. This was done by the former owner when he was a kid, so cut him some slack.

Still Available (as of 9 November 2016):
1990 Topps: Jeff Innis
1991 Score: Gregg Jeffries
1992 Topps: Doug Simons, Daryl Boston, Chris Donnels, Vince Coleman, Gregg Jeffries

TRADED:
1987 Topps: Kevin Mitchell
1988 Topps: Kevin Elster, Dave Cone (with forged signature), Terry Leach, Doug Sisk

1991 Donruss: Julio Valera, Mackey Sasser, Daryl Boston, Alejandro Pena

1992 O-Pee-Chee Premier: Paul Gibson, Junior Noboa
1992 Score: Mark Carreon (2), Kevin Elster, Hubie Brooks, Daryl Boston, Jeff Innis, Howard Johnson
1992 Topps: Doug Simons, Daryl Boston, Kevin McReynolds, Kevin Elster, Chris Donnels, Hubie Brooks, Vince Coleman, Gregg Jeffries
1992 Topps Stadium Club: Anthony Young

Willie Randolph as a Mets is as odd as Darryl Strawberry or Dwight Gooden as a Yankees. If you see anything that you want here -- they make great stocking stuffers -- lemme know.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I'm a Mets fan and would be happy to have most of these. I have a few (most of the 92 Topps) but not most. My email is brettalan at gmail dot com if you want to get in touch. Thanks.
