Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow - Post 2

In addition to the batch of John Kruk cards that JBF Wes sent me as part of his retirement package, he sent me some choice Darryl Strawberry cards. Each one of them is especial in their own way be they a relic (the first card below) or SN to various degrees.

They are here in chronological order, but by rights the first one should be last as a kind of grand finale. Firstly it's a relic card and secondly he is dressed as a Mets.

2003 Fleer Fall Classics - Legendary Collection Memorabilia, Card #LC/DS2

2004 Donruss Leather & Lumber - Pennants/Pinstripes, Card #PP-5 SN 291/2499

2004 Playoff Honors - Prime Signatures, Card #PS-31 SN 1938/2500

2005 Donruss Champions Impressions Red, Card #54 SN106/250

2005 Donruss Leather & Lumber - Big Bang, Card #BB-7 SN 1840/2000

2005 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia - Tools of the Trade Blue, Card #TT-18 SN 108/150

This card above had some rotational issues. Sorry!

2008 Topps Triple Threads, Card #43 SN 1125/1350

2011 Topps Triple Threads, Card #64 SN1047/1500

And, again, the calling card...

So, we have 4 Mets, 3 Yankees and 1 Dodgers. Not a bad haul at all at all at all.

Wes: You Are Ridiculous. You Are The Man. THANK YOU!

Thanks for stopping by!

Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow - Post 1

John Kruk is a legend.  Note the lower case l there. If you want a capital-L Legend, you have to look at the recently retired-from-trading Wes aka Jay Barker Fan who can be found here on Twitter. He blitzkrieged Matt into retirement and before he sailed west, he sent out a bunch of cards to collectors and traders and I was lucky enough to be the recipient of some amazing cards. This is the first of two farewell to Wes posts. This one focusing on John Kruk.

Wes sent me my first Kruk as a White Sox card...

1995 Pinnacle Hall of Gold You Trade Em, Card #HG 76

The rest of the Kruk cards feature him as a Phillies and they are all SN cards. I'll let the cards do the talking...

2005 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Tools of the Trade Red, Card #TT-135

2005 Upper Deck Classics Counterparts (with Kent Hrbek), Card #CC-KH SN 1388/1999

2006 Fleer Greats of the Game Copper, Card #53 SN 153/299

2013 Panini America's Pastime, Card #151 SN 70/125

2013 Panini America's Pastime Characters of the Game, Card #CG5 SN 2/125

The Calling Card, Autographed:

Wes, Thank You Kind Sir! It was a privilege to have met you via trade and an eternally grateful and in your debt.

Thanks for stopping by!

Set Goals and More

Marc B (also on Twitter) recently (well, in late May or early June... I'm behind) sent me four cards for my 1992 Topps set!!!!

Getting these cards brings me this (    ) much closer to building this set entirely from the kindness of other people's junk wax.

This of course brings the refrain to my brain of:

"You down with OPJW?"
"Yeah you know me..."
by Collecty by Nature.

But Marc didn't stop there.... He also include six additional cards; three each of Darryl Strawberry and John Kruk.

All very awesome to have in my Strawberry box and Kruk box.

Thank you Marc!

Thanks for stopping by.

Oscar Steals the Show

Oscar stole the show one day in June when the surprise mail day of baseball cards of Darryl Strawberry goodness. Most of them are as a Dodgers player but there is that one beautiful card in the Mets uniform looking, likely, as though he was in batting practice.

By rights I should have scanned all these individually but I was too lazy. So my apologies to Oscar for not showing the cards off the way they should have been!

Thank you Oscar!!!!!!!!!!!
