John Kruk 1994

To brighten up your Friday, here are some 1994 John Kruk cards I got a while back but never showed off.

First up is Kruk's "Blinded by the light" Bowman card. We have pictured a goatee and clean shaven. In the card back: seriously: how do you get hair like that.

Now we get the 1994 Fleer Sunoco card.  We have here bearded and goatee'd.

And last but not least, is Topps Gold.

You know the funniest thing is that we're all nostalgic for those powder blue and maroon Phillies uniforms from the 70s and 80s. But the red Phillies logo with stars dotting the i's and the pinstripes have been around for the majority of my life, and possibly yours, but they still don't look quite right. Do you know what I mean? Funny? Well, maybe not literally. But it's just weird that I cannot accept it.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Maybe it's because of my age, but in my mind, that Phillies logo IS the Phillies logo, and anything that isn't it looks weird.

    1. It should be the logo I remember the most, but it just isn't. I guess in part because of Fuji's comment below... those 70s and 80s teams are just indelibly stuck in my mind.

  2. I think for me it has to do with the fact that I remember seeing guys like Mike Schmidt, Pete Rose, and Steve Carlton wearing those powder blue jerseys... and the white pinstriped jerseys on their late 70's & early 80's baseball cards.

  3. Krukster had to crouch quite a bit to get himself into that Bowman frame. 94 Fleer is one on my fave white-bordered designs of the 90s. I didn't know this until recently when the need to acquire the full set occurred, quite suddenly!

    1. Ha ha. 1994 Fleer is a really nice set. It makes me so sad what happened the next year.
