John Kruk: 2006 SP Legendary Cuts When It Was a Game

Last week I showed off John Kruk's 2006 SP Legendary Cuts. This week I'm showing off the When It Was a Game Silver insert card

This particular card is SN455 out of 550. The card is rather busy; gaudy, even, but I think overall I like it.

The When It Was a Game name is interesting. Baseball is still a game but it's a quite different game to when Kruk was playing ball. Mostly I think due to analytics, which is ruining this fans enjoyment. It's a flippin' game. Your swings and misses and hits...they don't really mean anything. Sometimes I don't know how they can be proud with the product they're putting out.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. "It's still a game!" (Said in my best 'Get off my lawn' voice.)

  2. I like how you're always ragging on analytics, and wish that more people would do so in public forums.

    1. I hate them! Tim Kurkjian, in today's Baseball Tonight podcast, asked Clayton Kershaw if he knew what his spinrate was and, blessedly, Kershaw said no. Not sure if he was fibbing or not, but he said he was more concerned with the "eye test".
