Darryl Strawberry: 2013 Panini Hometown Heroes Rivalry

In 2013, Panini brought out the Hometown Heroes cards. And this is the Rivalry insert card showing Strawberry in airbrushed New York Mets and New York Yankees clothing. It's a 20-card insert set. And it's one of just 41 insert sets for the 2013 Panini Hometown Heroes set.

This card is ugly.

If you PC a player and they played for rival teams, do you struggle to collect cards for him in the undesirable uniform? Or hate yourself, just a little bit, for buying them. This is the way I feel sometimes with Strawberry. But I usually buy them anyway. And medicate with booze.

 Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Regardless of how ugly a card is, I don't have any issues adding it to a player collection. But it may impact how much I'm willing to spend on the card.

  2. Not a lot of the guys I really collect had a Yankees stint, but I don't really have a problem buying Yankees cards of Straw, Gooden, Olerud, and so on.

But I'm all about the bargains. I bought a Topps Now of Luis Severino at the last show I attended. I don't care about Severino, but if I find a Topps Now card in a dime box, of course I'm going to buy it, especially if it's a good player (and/or a Met).

    1. Me too. I think I might have paid .18 or .25 for this card? Not bad. And it adds to the PC. That's a good deal on the Severino!

  3. Yes, medication with (good) booze is the best way to go. LOL
